Happy (blog) Birthday to Me!

That’s right.  12 months ago today I made the big leap into the world of blogging.  Little did I know at the time that it would take over my life and give my family and I so many amazing opportunities!

So, back to 12 months ago…. I was sat, heavily pregnant, wondering when Little Miss A would make her grand entrance.  With Little Mr A being at school I was bored, in need of some mental stimulation and watching far too much daytime TV!  I had read other blogs so thought I would give it a go myself.  I didn’t know whether I would enjoy it or even stick with it at the time!  I just thought it would be a good way to log, not only Little Miss A’s firsts, but also Little Mr A’s journey into school life.

When I started blogging I had no idea about the huge community side or all of the opportunities available, even to me as a newbie!  I soon found a great group of bloggers who I consider now to be great friends.  They have provided me with a lot of support over the last few months, not just with blogging but with ‘real life’ issues too.  I had the pleasure of meeting some of them in person at my first blogging conference, Blog On, in June and then at the Tots100 Blog Summit last month.  I can’t wait to meet the rest of them in November!

I have been really lucky to work with some great brands since I started my blog and I was really pleased to be chosen as a Maxi Cosi reporter, testing out the Loola, as this was my first big review as a blogger.  Not long after that I was ecstatic to find out my blog and the A’s had been chosen as Butlins Ambassadors for 2013/2014.  When I applied I didn’t think I would stand a chance against the bigger, more established bloggers so was completely taken aback when we were chosen and we can’t wait to visit Bognor next April!

Possibly the most exciting opportunity that we were chosen for this year was to attend Little Fun Fest at York Maze as one of their official bloggers.  Not only did we have a great day out, we also got to meet some of the CBeebies stars, amongst others.

As well as these amazing ‘big’ opportunities we have also reviewed some fabulous smaller items and been on some other amazing days out, none of which we would have been able to do without my blog.

It has been lovely to look back at my blog, particularly at the end of Little Mr A’s first year at school to see all of his achievements, some of which I had forgotten after a busy year!  It has also been lovely watching Little Miss A grow and documenting all of her ‘firsts’.  I am so pleased I decided to take part in the Project 365 too.  I have kept up with taking a photo of her everyday since 1st January and it has been amazing to see the changes in her throughout the year.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me over the last year; whether that be Big Mr A for putting up with me stressing over how many posts I have to write, my blogging friends for answering a stupid question that I should know the answer to and to my regular readers for carrying on reading what I write, even though I can waffle on sometimes!

Here’s to another year of blogging and hopefully many more adventures to come for the A family!
