Happy Birthday to The Dublin Diary!
It got me thinking about why I started to blog. I had been reading this blog since my trip to Venice in 2011 and absolutely loved it. I love Karen's easy way of life and her style of writing. Basically I wanted to do something similar. I didn't quite turn out like that though!Beautiful Howth was a popular subject!
The Dublin Diary has kind of turned into a "what I've been up to this week" sort of blog with a few entries about upcoming events. I think I'm happy about that! There's been highs and lows. Some posts have been incredibly popular and some have died a death! I've gotten to know a bit more about my readers. You are all a bunch of budget conscious beer lovers if my stats are anything to go by! Beer Me! and 13 Budget Ideas for 2013 are by far the two most popular posts on the blog in the last year. Other posts about trips to the theatre , visits to Howth and recalling 1916 have all proved popular too.
Loadsa Beer! The readers favourite!
It was interesting to find out that over half of all my readers are from Ireland, I didn't expect this! I thought I was gearing myself more for overseas readers hoping to visit Ireland but this is obviously not the case. US and UK reader numbers are high and there quite a contingent of folks in Germany and Russia who tune in too!My visit to The Gate Theatre was a popular post.
So the future looms ahead of me. I hope I am still blogging this time next year and I have a few new ideas up my sleeve. Initially I blogged in a haphazard manner, then I got strict with myself and decided that there had to be a new blog every Wednesday, going forward I'm hoping to blog twice a week and not bore anyone in the process! I also want to go down the food route a bit more, I've had such amazing inspiration via Twitter. Finally I'm also considering a guest blogger or two, in fact I think I may have one lined up! If anyone has anything they'd like to hear about be sure to let me know!Something more about food perhaps???
