Popular Television actor Gurmeet Choudhary has been declared the winner of the celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa season-5. He and his choreographer Shampa Sonthalia won the trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 40 lakh.
Gurmeet defeated Rashmi Desai and Rithvik Dhanjani. The dance show aired on Colors TV came to an end on September 30th (Sunday) with power packed performances by the three finalists (Gurmeet, Rashmi and Rithvik) as well as scintillating performances by the judges Madhuri Dixit Nene and Remo D’Souza. Actress Sridevi was present on the show to promote her upcoming film English Vinglish.
Madhuri Dixit Nene, Karan Johar and Remo D’Souza were the judges for Jhalak Dikhla Jaa season -5.
The 28 year old Gurmeet from Chandigarh wooed the audiences and the nation with his mind blowing performances one after the other.
After winning the title, Gurmeet said: “When I came to Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, I was just an actor, but today I can proudly say that I am a good dancer too. I would like to dedicate my win to my wife Debina for her love and support and to my fans for supporting me.”
Gurmeet portrayed the role of Lord Rama in the TV soap Ramayan, also played Maan Singh Khurana in the TV serial Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi. He is currently portraying the role of Yash in Punar Vivah being aired on Zee TV.
