I love meeting new blogger friends, and recently I met Sharzad, the woman behind LuxLyfe - a blog about health, food, beauty, fashion and travel. Once we began talking, it was clear that we have seriously lived the same life! She was also born in the Bay Area (like me), married a boy from Chicago (like me), and is constantly trying to get him to eat healthier (ha, and we all know that’s definitely like me!) Her blog is great, and you can also find her on Facebook and Twitter!

Welcome Sharzad! Here are some of her health and lifestyle tips that she swears by!

Juicing: Recently, I was inspired by the movie “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.” It’s a documentary that follows a few unhealthy people on their “juicing” journeys and the results will blow your mind. The benefits of juicing are insane.

Fresh fruits and veggies are filled with antioxidants and vitamins, which are so good for your hair, skin, nails and your overall well-being.  Not to mention they are super easy to digest when they are in juice form. I’ve found that juicing gives me energy and makes me feel focused. However, like everyone, I fall off the wagon and forget to take good care of myself, so I’m hoping this little post will help inspire someone else out there! So let’s get skinny… I mean healthy!

I love trying a variety of juicing recipes, but one of my staple favorites is: Celery, Apples, Carrots and the magic ingredient… drum roll please….Ginger! My juicer of choice and my health bff is the Jack Lallane Power Juicer Pro. I am a HUGE fan of Jack Lallane; he is the creator of the “jumping jack” and was a health pioneer who lived to be almost 100! Oh and he was born in SF ; )

Working it out: To keep me motivated, excited and happy I have to try new workouts all the time. My current favs are Pound and Barry’s Bootcamp. Pound is a super fun workout that involves squats, lunges, ab exercises and cardio all while “pounding” these two weighted drumsticks. You basically feel like a drummer and the pounding helps distract you from the fact that you’re doing a TON of hard exercises. I guarantee your obliques and booty will be super sore! Barry’s Bootcamp is possibly one of the hardest, most intense workouts I have ever done. His class combines running on a treadmill with a variety of targeted weight lifting exercises.  I was told that you burn up to 1,000 calories each class!

Workout Clothes: Let’s face it; working out is WAY more fun when you are wearing cute gear. I get a ton of stuff from Sports Basement when I’m in SF and I also currently love NUX. NUX clothing has a way of keeping my body feeling tight, secure and super stylish. The clothes are soft yet firm and comfortable while remaining flattering.  NUX is a nice change from the ever so trendy LuLu Lemon.
