"Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional..." - I moaned on the phone to my Mom how I couldn't believe in 10 years time I'd be 32. I'd always imagined by that point I'd be married, a (hopefully) 'Yummy Mommy' doing the school run being a complete domestic goddess. Having freshly baked cakes at the ready for when the family returned from work/school. All very Desperate Housewives, perhaps without so much murder and scandal!
10 years suddenly doesn't seem so far off though. Can all of that really happen?
And on top of all of that, how did I get old so bloody quick?! I dreamt last night I was in my Business Studies class in Sixth Form. When thinking about it all this morning, I realised that was 6 years ago. That doesn't seem so long ago, another 4 years and we've reached 10. That's the amount of time till I'm 32 and want my own business, hot husband and some sprogs.... ARGHHH! With panic rising, thoughts then turned to my weekend, celebrating my birthday and I realised as long as I'm still surrounded by my slightly crazy but, without a doubt, gorgeous and loveable friends and family, then that's all that really matters. I was truly spoilt this weekend and It made me realize how blessed I am.
So 32 may be almost around the corner, but as Mom reassured me...
"When you get to that point Abbie, you'll soon realize you're only as old as you feel."
