For more than a year already, GrabCar has been helping me a lot with how I navigate through Manila—from airport pickups and drop-offs to those times I need a snazzy ride to an event. Hence, I was so pleased to hear that they finally received official accreditation as a transport network company (TNC) from the authorities here—the first of its kind at that!
Reading and watching the news, I know that getting accredited was an uphill battle for GrabCar. Certain sectors have been strongly lobbying against their operation, even taking their case to Congress, so when I sat for a chat with the beautiful Ms. Natasha Gutierrez, who heads GrabCar Philippines, I had to ask first what she thinks the roadblocks would be and if they’re prepared to address them. Confident with the accreditation they’ve received, she assured me that should the protests in Congress prosper, they’re very ready to comply should more requirements be required and to defend further how their innovative service is supposed to complement regular taxis. For now though, passengers can rest assured that their ride is not only safe but legitimate as well.
Ever since GrabCar was introduced into our GrabTaxi apps a year ago, the people behind it have been working hard to meet and even exceed industry standards. And to make rides safe and reliable, they’ve continuously screened vehicles, trained drivers and operators, and complied with all the requirements the government asks of them. It therefore goes without saying that the accreditation is nothing but well-deserved. Congratulations, GrabCar!
To celebrate its accreditation, GrabCar is offering unlimited 100 PHP discount on all GrabCar and GrabCar+ rides until July 21! Just use the promo code LEGALLYGRAB when booking through the GrabTaxi app. For more updates, follow GrabTaxi Philippines on Facebook and Twitter.
