The mesmerically mystical element of it, right from the off-go, will set you up for something similar to that of Ellie Goulding, although you'll soon see that the vocal is far from her, and that the whole feel of it is much slower and more towards names such as Colbie Callait.The chorus though, changes it all around. There is a thumping drum throughout, and an even stronger sense of mysticality throughout ... purposefully placed we presume, that really gives it more purpose, and a feel that the pop market is what they're aiming for. Names such as Lea Michele, Molly Beanland, or a much, much, much more friendly version of Ke$ha come to mind. All in all, it places up well and, whilst very non-offensive, it has a real presence that makes you chilled out, and want more.
The only qualms we find with this sort of track is that there is nothing about it which would cause offense to anyone. Now, in an ideal world, and actually in a rational world, that would only ever be a good thing ... but sometimes it's good to have a bit of bull-headedness and the likes of Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Katy Perry have all made their names from it ... we do wonder if Chelsea Lankes can get anywhere near those at the top if she continues to send out this sort of music, albeit absolutely beautiful.
Who knows? Maybe this is the future, but for now, we can only see utter ridiculousness at the height of the industry and find ourselves worried for the future of Lankes.
