New hair, same me!
Mermaid hair has been all the rage for a few years now. I've tested the mermaid waters awhile back but have stayed in the safe zone (as far as my hair color) these past few years. As you can see, this post is called "Going Back To My Roots" because I believe the color purple is my natural hair color. I know you may be reading this making a face and saying "what the heck is this girl trying to say? Purple isn't a natural hair color for a human." and obviously I'm not a unicorn (which sometimes I wish I was). What I'm trying to say is my spirit color (like a spirit animal) is purple. Yea, I'm in my 30's and yea, I'm a professional BUT it doesn't mean I can't have fun!
I've been thinking about changing my hair color to something funky for a couple of years now. I even have an album on to my phone called "hair ideas" which consist of rainbow colored trends. After thinking about it for so long, I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. I'm not one to worry about what others think. And to be honest, the opinions of others shouldn't be a reason why you decide to do something. I've only been a "mermaid" for a few days now but I've been stopped by many people to discuss my hair. The top comment is "I love your hair, but I could never pull it off". Well, let me tell you that YES, YES you can PULL it off! If it's just a strand of pink or a sea of blue waves gracing your mane, if you're thinking "outside the box"- you should try it!
This theory doesn't only apply to your hair. It can touch all aspects of your life. Maybe you were thinking of purchasing those printed pants you saw at that boutique but NO one in your office wears printed pants. Or you saw a faux fur vest hanging in that store window but you're thinking "this isn't age appropriate". Regardless of what it is, it never hurts to try because you're going to style those printed pants amazingly and the following week you'll notice someone else wearing printed pants! If you can inspire one person to try something new, you have PULLED IT OFF! My purple locks feel so natural, I can't believe I waited this long. I've always been a creative untraditional "character" that my hair is just another way to show my creativity and creativity doesn't stop just because you're getting older.
If you're already considering stepping outside the box, you're already one step closer to buying those pants, wearing that fur vest or even dying your hair purple! Until next time.........
