Glamour Daze By MAC: Holiday 2012
When I hear someone say, "I want a 50's-60's inspired look" I automatically think classic, simple yet bold and of course feminine. These are the exact traits that MAC has incorporated into their Holiday 2012 line Glamour Daze.  Lipsticks, Lipglasses, Extra Dimension Eye Shadows, Fluidlines, Kohl Power Eye Pencils, Powder Blushes, Extra Dimension Skinfinshes and of course Nail Lacquers are all ingredients for a collection to swoon over for sure.
Let me set the scene................
In the shy corner of Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island, MAC took over. Makeup Artists at work, intrigued shoppers lingered around, beauty junkies waiting to be helped and MAC Glamour Daze models and dancers setting up to put on a show that would grab the attention of a 80 year old man. I only use the example of a 80 year old man because I actually saw one stop in his tracks once the show started. True story.
There was such an amazing vibe in the corner of the Mall. MAC made this line come alive in a way that this girl will never stop talking about.

Since my favorite MAC girl Becca, who is a resident Makeup Artist for the MAC store in Roosevelt Field already made an appointment for me I was in a chair and ready to be wowed in about 15 minutes! Let me tell you that I was utterly impressed and lucky!
I had an astonishing artist who will now be my friend forever doll me up. Michael Patterson who has worked for MAC for 7 years and is also Resident Trainer for NYC North impressed me with his talents. While Michael applied my makeup I chatted up with Chantel Miller, a Senior Artist on the MAC Pro Team based out in NYC. I asked Chantel to describe the theme of this years holiday line and she couldn't have said it any better. "It's a little bit Mad Men meets modern fashion" says Chantel and I immediately agreed because that was my first thought when I saw their set up. She goes on to describe what is different about the collection than the traditional take on this type of makeup. "We're working with new high-tech fine grade metallics so you see the metallics show up in makeup almost the way you see it on a car, so the texture is all luxury all the way" added Chantel. I then had her pick out what were her favorites from the collection. She picked "A Natural Flirt" eyeshadow and "Orpheus" Kohl Eye Pencil (Swatches Below). Great picks!

So lets jump back to my makeup being done by Michael! Let's just say when Michael was done, I exclaimed "I look like an Indian Barbie Doll!" in amazement. I told him the look I wanted which was a non-dramatic smokey eye and he beyond delivered. I also went on to tell him that I am a very minimal makeup wearing type of gal. He listened and stayed true to who I am.
What I really adored about this blonde haired, blue eyed gem was that he made the makeup multi-functioning. How many times do you purchase a shadow or blush and forget about it because it's just something you wouldn't wear everyday? I mean, I do it all the time. Michael opened my eyes to endless possibilities when it came to using makeup. He turned an eyeshadow into a blush! Not just a blush but a blush that was constantly complimented when someone looked at me. He explained "I really don't believe in rules of makeup. I believe that it's really about what makes you feel captivating, confident and beautiful."
Here's my finished look! Seriously, don't I look like an Indian Barbie?

I have seen many MAC lines come and go and then come again and i'm going to be honest with you, they have all been my favorite. I'm sorry, it is too hard to pick! Glamour Daze is now in that category of MAC Collection Favorites. See for yourself.

As always, MAC never fails. I grabbed a few things before I called it a night. Just a few...I swear. I may or may not end up in the store again next week (or tomorrow) to grab the rest. Hey, you never know! I learned a lot of nifty tricks from Michael which I can't wait to try out on my own. It's been a long time that I can say I fully trust a Makeup Artist. He definitely earned it and only a few get it! Met some great people today also, who I thank very much for their help. I want to say a special Thank You to Chantel Miller who made it possible for me to get my interview today! You were amazing!
Thank You MAC, You will always have my heart.
