You don't have to sail the seven seas to be a pirate. But, in a way, we are all pirates. Come on, don't tell me you have never downloaded a movie or an MP3 over the Internet illegally. We all do that and I guess some might even call it a part of our nature.
Sure, all giant media corporations and governments pretend to hate digital media piracy, especially torrents. However, secretly they love it and endorse it. Because it has now proven as one of the most effective ways of publicizing products, in this case TV shows.
Believe it or not, these downloads even managed to score more audience around the world than these shows get from airing in the US. Take a look at this list of "Most downloaded TV-shows on BitTorrent, 2013."
As you can see, the number of US TV viewers for Game of Thrones is estimated to be about 5,500,000. Although the estimated total downloads has surpassed 5,900,000 in 2013. Same goes for many others as well.
