This adorable little cozy would make the perfect back to school project.  All you need is a little black and white worsted weight yarn, a size G crochet hook and a needle.  The pattern is written below but you may download it via Craftsy by clicking on the image above or through Ravelry by clicking on the "download now" button below.

Materials: Worsted weight yarn in black and white Size G crochet hook Tapestry Needle Fiber Fill (Optional)
Abbreviations: Ch = chain Sl st = slip stitch Sc = single crochet Dc = double crochet Hdc = half double crochet St(s) = stitch (stitches)
Panda Head Part 1 Start with a magic ring Round 1:Ch1, 6 sc into the ring, sl st to 1st sc to join round. Round 2:Ch 1 and sc in same stitch, 2 sc in next st and in each st around.Sl st to ch 1 to join round. Round 3:Ch 1, *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in following st* repeat until you have reached the last st.2 sc in last st, sl st to ch 1 to join round. Round 4:Ch 1, 1 sc in next st, *2 sc in following st, 1 sc in next 2 sts* repeat around until you have reached the last st, 2 sc in last st, sl st to ch 1 to join round. Rounds 5-6:Ch 1, 1 sc in each st around, sl st to ch 1 to join round. Round 7:Ch 1, 1 sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 4 sts, sc2tog, sl st to ch 1 to join round. Round 8:Ch 1, 1 sc in next st 2 sts, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 3 sts, sc2tog, sl st to ch 1 to join round. **Draw up a large loop and set hook aside.At this point you will make the ears, eyes and nose.I find them much easier to sew on before you begin to close the head opening and add (the optional) fiber fill.

Ears (Make 2) With black yarn ch 4 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, dc in next ch, ch 1, sc in last ch.Tie off yarn leaving a 6” tail. Using the tail sew the ears to the top of the head, one on either side.

Eyes (Make 2) With black yarn ch 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in last ch.Tie off yarn leaving a 6 inch tail.With white yarn and a tapestry needle, sew one stitch through the center of the small black rectangle you just crocheted.This will create the center of the eye.Sew the eye onto the panda head and weave in all loose ends.

Nose: With black yarn and a tapestry needle sew an upside down triangle shaped nose onto the front of the panda head.
Head Part 2 Insert your hook back into your loop. Round 9:Ch 1, sc in next st, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, sl st to ch 1 to join round. *Note:If you would like to fill the head with fiber fill, begin to do so at this step. Round 10:Ch 1, sc2tog over next 2 sts, sc 1, sc2tog, sc 1, sc2tog, sc 1, sc2tog,sl st to ch 1 space to join.Sl st to ch 1 to join round. Round 11:Ch 1, sc in next st, sc2tog, 1 sc in next 2 sts, sc2tog, sl st to ch 1 to join round.Tie off white yarn.
Body *Note:The body is worked in a continuous loop.You will not join after each round. Sl st with black yarn to join. Ch 1, Hdc in next st and each st around.Do Not Join.Continue working half double crochets around in a continuous loop until the body is at least 2 inches in length.Then, tie off black yarn.Weave in all loose ends.
