Materials: - Worsted Weight Yarn
- Size I crochet Hook

- 2 small buttons or medium sized beads (owl’s eyes)
Abbreviations: ch - chain
sts - stitches
dc - double crochet
FPdc - front post double crochet
FPtr - front post triple crochet
tr - triple crochet
Rnd - round
Rpt - Repeat
sl st - slip stitch
rsc - reverse single crochet
Special Stitches:
FPtr: Yarn over your crochet hook twice, counterclockwise. Insert the hook behind the post of the next stitch in the previous row, from right to left. Yarn over your hook and pull the loop from left to right through the piece, which will wrap the working yarn around the post. Yarn over again and pull through the first two of the four loops on your hook. You will have three loops left.Yarn over and pull through the next two loops. You will have two loops left.Yarn over and pull through the last two loops to complete the front-post treble crochet stitch.
FPdc: Yarn over (yo) and insert your hook from front to back between the posts of the first and second double crochet of the row below, and then from back to front again between the posts of the second and third stitches.The hook should now be positioned horizontally behind the double crochet that you’re working around.Yarn over and draw the yarn around the post of the stitch.You now have 3 loops on the hookYarn over and draw the yarn through the 2 loops on the hook, twice.One front post double crochet (FP dc) is complete.
Owl Boot Cuff Pattern
*** Make 2 Boot Cuffs. ***
Chain 40 with I crochet hook, sl st to join the round.
Round 1: Ch 2, dc in every stitch around. Sl st to top of ch 2 to join
the round.
Round 2: Ch 2, dc in the first seven stitches, 2 FPdc, 4 dcs, 2 FPdc, 25 dc, slip stitch to top of ch 2 to join the round.
Round 3: Ch 2, sc in first 7 sts, skip 2 dc, tr in each of next 2 dc, FPtr in each of the skipped sts over previous 2 tr, skip 2, FPtr in each of next 2, tr behind FPtr in each of the 2 skipped sts] dc in next 25 sts. Sl st to top of ch 2 to join.
Round 4: Ch 2, dc in first 7 sts, [FPdc in next 8 sts], dc in next 25 sts, sl st to top of ch 2 to join round.
Round 5: Rpt Rnd 4
Round 6: Ch 2, dc in first 7 sts, skip 2 dc, FPtr in each of next 2 sts, FPtr in each of the skipped sts over sts (beginning with the eigth stitch and then the ninth stitch of the round.) skip 2 sts, FPtr in each of next 2 sts, FPtr behind the FPtr you just made in each of the 2 skipped sts (beginning with the twelth stitch and then the thirteenth stitch of the round). Dc in next 25 sts. Sl st in top of ch 2 to join round.
Rnd 7 - 9: repeat Rnd 4 2 FPtr under center sts of owl into, dc in next 3sts, dc in next 25. Sl st in top of ch 2 to join round.
Round 10: Repeat round 6.
This ends the owl portion of the cuff. Do NOT tie off or cut yarn. Continue crocheting as you have in the previous rounds.
Round 11: Ch 2, double crochet in each stitch around. Sl st in top of ch 2 to join the round.
Round 12: Ch 2, dc in the first stitch *FPdc in the next 2 sts, dc in the following 2 sts* repeat around the cuff.
Round 13-14: Repeat round 12.
Round 15: Ch 1, rotate your work 180 degrees so that you are looking at the outside of the work instead of the inside. Reverse single crochet in the next stitch and in each stitch around. Sl st to top of ch 1 to join round.
Slip stitch to the outside of the first row of the top of the cuff. Ch 1, reverse single crochet in the first stitch and in each stitch around. Sl st to top of ch 1 to join round.
Using the tapestry needle and the small buttons or beads you have chosen, sew on the two owl’s eyes. You can see where the buttons should be sewn on by looking closely at the images above.
Take a tapestry needle and sew in all of the loose threads.
