Fox News: Why Chiropractic is Beneficial For You

Fox News: Why Chiropractic is Beneficial For YouAccording to a recent article from Fox News, recent studies have shown that chiropractic care results in a 51.8 percent reduction in pharmaceutical costs and 43 percent fewer  hospital admissions.  That is staggering considering the fact that a study led by Null, which involved a painstaking review of thousands of medical records, the United States spends $282 billion annually on deaths due to medical mistakes, or iatrogenic deaths.

The article delves a little deeper into the specifics of the chiropractic profession, such as pointing how more and more chiropractors receive referrals from medical doctors, due to patients’ frustration with the lack of success from medications.  The main difference between the two professions is that medical doctors treat primarily with drugs while chiropractors work to return normal function to the body through hands on techniques.  It is important to keep in mind however, that you will be best served by both doctors working together towards the goal of improved health.  For example, at Georgia Clinic of Chiropractic (Augusta, GA) many of our patients are referred from their primary care physicians, and through an integrative approach, we are able to “fix” their health conditions, while their primary care physician is able to adjust their medications accordingly, as their symptoms improve due to chiropractic care.

The symptoms specifically mentioned in the article were back pain, neck pain and headaches.  All three respond resoundingly well to chiropractic.  A recent blog post from ABC News earlier this year also concurred this, pointing out that a new study published in The Annals of Internal Medicine concluded chiropractic was the better avenue for pain relief than medication.   “Doesn’t surprise me a bit,” Dr. Lee Green, professor of family medicine at the University of Michigan told ABC News. “Neck pain is a mechanical problem, and it makes sense that mechanical treatment works better than a chemical one.”  This is good news for neck pain sufferers.  Of the 783,936 annual deaths due to conventional medical mistakes, about 106,000 are from prescription drugs, according to Death by Medicine. With alarming statistics showing how fatal medication can be, chiropractic’s conservative approach is the smarter avenue to pursue first.

The Fox News article concludes by reiterating how a chiropractic approach to care, which may include nutrition advice and exercise recommendations, can reduce the need for potentially addictive pain medication or invasive  surgery. Patients at Georgia Clinic of Chiropractic were previously adviced that surgery would be the only option for neck and back pain relief.  After undergoing chiropractic care, many of these same patients were able to eliminate the need for surgery, after their symptoms improved through customized, chiropractic treatments.  If you’re currently suffering from a health condition, including neck pain, back pain, fibromyalgia or headaches, chiropractic may be the answer you’ve been looking for.
