First off, I would like to thank Nancy over at Spicie Foodie. I entered my Deviled Egg in her Your Best Recipe Contest. She was kind enough to post it. If you are interested in entering YBR, contact Nancy.
So, this is the first month that I participated in the Foodie Pen Pals. This is the brainchild of Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean. What a great idea she came up with. Every month she matches two people by email. She has groups practically across the globe. Mostly here, (US) Canada, and the UK. She has managed to match people with their prospective countries due to shipping reasons. Here is how it works.on or about the fifth of each month she sends you a email giving you your assignment.
(Cue the Mission Impossible theme song) Here is your mission if you choose to accept it. Only kidding
In this e-mail it contains your assigned Pen Pals e-mail. You are responsible for contacting that person and finding out if they have any allergies, what they like and don't like to eat. The address to send it to etc. Thank goodness for flat rate boxes right? You have 72 hours to do this.
Also your e-mail will self destruct in 15 seconds. I am only kidding about the self destruct thing.
Then you have until the 15th of the month to send out your package. At the end of the month, you then blog about what you got (if you have a blog).
Oh yeah, you cant spend more than 15 bucks.
Also you need to put a personal note in with the stuff you sent.
Kristen Butterfield sent me the best package. You can see her blog here.
She had me at Rocca!
I can honestly say I never had one until she sent several different kinds. I think my favorite was the mocha.
I did actually tear into the pistachios first. Then there is the plethora of Hot Cocoas she sent me. They are from Starbucks. Can you guess where she is from?
You are correct Washington!
She also sent Pampered Chef Maple Honey Mustard Sauce.
She sells Pampered Chef.
That is good to know.
Not to mention the scones, that I may try next weekend.
Not to mention the butters, oh the butters! Hubbie loves them on his toast and bagels.
Believe it or not so does Monkey Girl as picky as she is.
Well. my first mistake was to tell Monkey Girl all about Foodie Pen Pals. So my package arrived on Saturday when I was at work. I get a call from Monkey Girl telling me all about the yummy stuff I got in the mail. I had to threaten life and limb to keep her from eating anything before I got home. Oh and sorry the jam was not in the shot. Hubbie opened it and used some on his bagels. I forgot to take them out of the refrigerator for the shot.
I sent Kathleen Ericson a package too. If you want to know all about what I sent her, click here.
Her blog is named Sweetness Hunter.
So there you have it.
I contacted Lindsay and let her know I would love to participate next month.
Peace be with you,
Veronica
