Five Secrets to Giggling Babies and Pampers

By Shalinidigvijay @shalinidigvijay
The pitter patter of smal feet always translates to happiness. It's been a long time.... The pitter patter has become more like stomping around. But memories are special. And rewinding is always fun. Rewinding? Is going back...Almost lie "I wish that I could turn back the clock..."
For us as new parents,it was always those giggles that brought sunshine to my life.  We've also done that bit where every outing meant colossal amount of nappies and diapers and syrups and creams and clean wipes and thermoses and baby formulas and sterile bottles and a whole lot of stuff.I remember, with all this paraphernalia, there was hardly ever space for our own stuff. We holidayed /travelled in two pairs of denims each and an assortment of T-shirts, that most of the time ,never even got ironed. However that was never the case with sweet child.Always nattily dressed, shoes to match and because he had long hair till he was two , matching rubber bands too.Yup.Long hair and rubber bands.Five Secrets to Giggling Babies and PampersYou do get the picture?
So along with keeping his skin dry and super soft and rash free ,I had an added task of keeping his hair problem free. I lost count of the times I had to rinse out Farex and Dal from his hair by the time we got his hair cut....So the five things...
1. Keeping it clean. My favorite always was a particular brand of soap that I associated with baby smell. However, only after my baby was born did I realize that baby smell is the smell of purity and clean skin and sometimes milk and Cerelac  or Farex or vomit or poo...that believe me is the most unbaby like smell ever. So make sure that baby is cleaned using a good quality, low chemical content soap. If not bathed daily, then a sponge wipe with water and clean towels is essential. Don't forget to dry between those adorable creases on baby skin.
2. Keeping it dry.Once the baby has been washed or bathed or sponged, it is essential to ensure that his skin is dry. The best way to do that, let him be in his birthday suit. Don't be in a hurry to dress him. If it's warm, a little time au naturel won't hurt, in fact he'll be super thrilled. And in winters, make sure the room is warm, not toasty hot... Too much of heat is nauseating for babies. Believe me, I know. I did that cleaning second time round many times before I realised that.
3. Keeping it moisturised.Make massage a daily ritual . A perfect time for mama and baby to bond. And soon, you'll find that with the giggles,Little baby is copying your massage strokes and all the oil massage is becoming a fun time. So whether you make the massage oil at home or buy one from a store, the idea is the touching and the bonding and the theraupatic results of the massage. Ideally the massage should be before the bath and once you bring baby out, make sure you slather him with a good quality baby lotion or cream. The best way is like you use on your own skin... Lotion for summer, cream for winter. And make sure he's all done. Cheeks and toes and all that glows...
4. Keeping it diapered. The biggest mistake of new mums is the nappy or diaper. Find one that fits baby and suits his skin. Remember to change often. Don't  wait till you get your money's worth from it. Yup, I've seen mums who will keep the diaper for 6-8 hours because it costs a lot to buy a bag. 🤔😤.And just because diapers  make your lives easy ,don't delay the toilet training. As soon as possible, toilet train your little one. A lot of kids can let you know when it's time, so you can help him out, and the diaper can act as damage control.Pampers is a brand that has been around a long while. And trust is built on long time performances.I can also vouch for it.
5. Keeping a check.Ensure that you keep a check on baby's skin. Any sign of a rash or infection, don't you hesitate to use an OTC cream. And if you're in doubt call your paediatrician. Always. Never rely on home remedies for too long. If there is a problem, treat it. If all else fails ,call your mum! She'll know what to do.
So all of you young mums and dads, make sure you bond with baby...this time will never return. They'll get too big for their boots, you'll never be able to stuff food down their throats and their Tshirts will get grungier than yours....
But your memories will live on. Now you can choose to make memories of diaper rashes and poo in various coloured hues or giggles.
Choose. Choose well.
