Abstract

Fitness is an act of healthy living. Being fit is not only meant by physical fitness but it includes mental fitness too. In other words, Fitness is a state of physical and mental wellbeing. Fitness is more than simply exercising on a daily basis, infect, it has a solid impact on an individual's life and daily routine.

Due to our lifestyle choices fitness is a major concern nowadays. We are unable to spend time to maintain our fitness. As per Ayurveda, you can stay fit and healthy by following a good diet and lifestyle.

In this topic we are going to discuss the true meaning of fitness and how we can achieve fitness through the use of Ayurvedic herbs.

What is the True Meaning of Fitness?

Fitness is defined as the ability to perform daily activities without feeling tired. There must be physical and mental alertness while doing routine tasks and that too without any fatigue.

Fitness varies from person to person and it can be assessed by muscle strength, endurance, flexibility, and cardiorespiratory health. Fitness proceeds your energy which is essential to remain productive. Stamina and positive outlook is important for a healthy state of mind. Ayurvedic Aspect of Fitness

Ayurveda is a sanskrit word which means "Science of life". The Ayurveda is an ancient Indian, Holistic, medical science which helps in achieving physical and mental health by maintaining a good and healthy lifestyle. The main motive of Ayurveda is to prevent disease and increase vitality and longevity. As per Ayurveda, everything in the universe and our body is composed of five elements (Earth, water; fire, air and space). These fives elements combined with each other and form three energies they are Vata (Air+Space), Pitta (Fire+ water) and Kapha (Water + Earth). These three are considered as energies of our body and they are the base of our body.

  • Your wake up time defines your whole day. Ayurveda recommends waking up before sunrise. Try to wake up at the same time every day even during weekends. Consistency is necessary to achieve a healthy body and mind
  • Hydration plays a key role in good health. Drink a glass of lukewarm water after waking up. It helps in cleansing the digestive tract. It also stimulates bowel movement. Try to aim for minimum 8 to 9 glasses of water in a day.
  • Exercise on a regular basis, it will help you to stay active whole day. You can choose options like Yoga, jogging, and running as per your convenience. Exercise on a daily basis improves blood circulation and provides strength to the body. It also increases endurance power and increases flexibility of joints. To maintain mental health you can go for meditation. Meditation helps to keep your mind calm and alert. It also relieves your stress and anxiety.
  • A good night's sleep is as important as exercise. If you are not taking proper sleep, you are going to wake up lethargic and tired. It's going to affect your whole day routine and hinder your productivity
  • Nutrition is very important for fitness.Try to adopt good eating habits. Do not skip meals and eat in moderate amounts. When we adopt healthy eating habits we become healthier and happier.
