The day after our arrival, we decided to sleep in and do some exploring of Sarande:

Our first impressions:
- Most of the tourists in Sarande are from Albania, the neighboring countries and … Norway!
- The closer you are to the center of town, the better the roads are.
- Albanians like to build, but they don’t seem to like to finish what they are building.
- We found the local population to be very friendly, helpful and curious (about our origin, our work, etc.).
The major source of income is tourism. The town with its 30.000 inhabitants is situated in a beautiful bay, surrounded by mountains. One of the most popular places – apart from the bars and restaurants – is the seaside promenade.
Albanian cuisine is heavily influenced by Greek and Italian gastronomy. During our stay of one week, we never had bad food! At the contrary! But more about this later!
