Finding out I Was Pregnant with Little Miss A

By Mummyoftwo @RaspberryGiggle

After it had taken us so long to get pregnant the first time around, after Little Mr A was born we decided against contraception and see what nature threw at us.

After 3 years nothing had happened and I was beginning to give up hope of having a second child.

We made the move away from home in October 2011 and thoughts of a second child were put firmly to the back of our mind.

Come February 2012 and I started to feel 'strange'. I had gone off certain foods and just didn't feel right. During one dinner hour I decided to pop into the chemist on the way home for lunch and pick up a pregnancy test. I didn't for one second think I would be pregnant, but wanted to rule it out.

Imagine my surprise when two blue lines showed up on the test! I was delighted that we had finally managed to fall pregnant again, however, scared that we were in a new City that we hadn't yet really got to know.

I rung Big Mr A at work who was very happy but in a little bit of shock!

I kept the pregnancy test in a drawer and had to keep checking it just to make sure I hadn't read it wrong (in fact I still have that test now!).

The first scan was a few weeks later and all looked good.

At our 20 week scan we hadn't really decided if we wanted to find out the sex of the baby, however, we are both quite impatient people and knew we wouldn't be able to wait to find out!

I was convinced we would be having a boy. All of the Little A's generation on my side of the family were boys so I didn't for one second think the nurse would turn around and tell us we were having a girl! We must have looked ridiculous with the big grins on our faces when she told us!

My Mum had come with us to look after Little Mr A in the waiting room and we asked if they could come in and have a look at the scan. When Little Mr A walked into the room we told him to come and meet his baby sister! There were tears all round!

Before you have children you think that it is going to be easy and quick to get pregnant, however, for us this has never been the case. We would love a third baby (well most days anyway!) but, again, things seem to be taking their time. What will be will be and, if we have to wait another 3 years for the next Little A it will make finding out that even more magical!
