Film Concept Inspired Styling Shoot

By Alicebodkin94 @AliceBodkin

Last week at University we were investigating the influence of film and how fashion draws and borrows from the world of film for inspiration. For example, Prada’s obsession with 1920′s, and consequently designing the costumes for The Great Gatsby.

Myself, along with 3 other girls look at the 1974 film The Night Porter. The film is about a World WAR 2 concentration camp survivor, who, 13 years later happens to bump into her tormentor and lover, an ex Nazi officer. He is now the night porter at the hotel she is staying at with her husband, how after their meeting, they continue their  sado-masochistic relationship. The film has inspired the designer Marc Jacobs in particular within the designs of his clothes for his own brand, and Louis Vuitton

As a group we decided to explore some scenes in the film and this was my mood board and outcomes.
