Playing with Charcoal on paper this weekend, and pursuing Figure drawing studies.
Somehow, Charcoal and chalks are not natural to me. As far as I remember, I always loved to draw 'lines'… I was hatching my pupil and student notebooks and always admired the Greats who can express so much with a hand gesture. Renaissance drawings are appearing on paper like miracles…
With Charcoal and pastel, I need to start thinking of 'Values' - I progressively learn to see other things than shapes and lines, and try my best on shades and volumes.
Here is the charcoal done on lost hours over the last days :
More to be learnt though, still need to think the figure seats in the space, and the light is playing around.
