Food & Drink Magazine
It all started when Kallol Banerjee and Jaydeep Barman missed their Kolkata street food so much that they decided to open Faaso’s in Pune so that atleast they would get to eat Kolkata kathi rolls. Today, their baby Faaso’s has 95 outlets in 6 cities.
Recently I was invited to review their food app. The everyday specials are exclusively on offer on the app which I found easy to navigate and simple to use. Faaso’s has payment options of either cash on delivery or card.
When you order food from the app, the order is not transferred to a call center but goes to a kitchen which means that right from the placing to the execution and delivery, Faaso’s takes full responsibility. An add on is that app orders can also include selected popular items from another well known restaurant nearby. For example when you order from the Pune camp branch of Faaso’s, you can also order specific dishes from George restaurant. After placing our order it took 25 minutes for the food to be delivered.
I have ordered from Faaso’s before and the quality was as good as always. Even though the dishes are reasonably priced, there is no compromise on the quality and ingredients. We ordered chicken bhuna wrap which had moist juicy chicken chunks. You have the option of the wrap base being either made of maida or whole wheat. Rice feast was steamed rice and a butter chicken gravy. The gravy was creamy and mild without the typical layer of oil floating on top or an overdose of spices. The vegetarian paneer and mushroom wrap’s melted cheese deliciously blended with the paneer cubes and button mushroom. Dessert was chocolate fantasy- a hot liquid centered chocolate cake. It’s difficult to get it just right because a few minutes here and there completely affects the consistency and taste. Our chocolate fantasy was baked appetizingly well. A new upgraded app version with wider options is in the pipeline. Till then the current mobile app continues to satiate with yummy daily surprises and specials of the day.
