Louis-Philippe Loncke's Poland Trek earlier this year was the most recent expedition by the Belgian explorer and adventurer, a member of the prestigious Explorers Club and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
This was the first human powered crossing of Poland from South to North. Following a challenging trek in the Tatras Mountains Louis pack-rafted and kayaked down the Vistula River (the longest river starting and finishing in Poland) to the Baltic ocean. Many sections of the river are extremely remote and up to 50 kilometres from the nearest settlements. Reaching up to 2 km wide, and in places becoming very shallow, the river was often very difficult to navigate.
Despite difficulties both in the mountains and on the water Louis-Philippe Loncke was successful. Congratulations to Louis (and apologies for not posting this sooner).
