Events: Bill Cunningham and a Bike Ride

By Forevermelody

I have a confession - I'm totally a faker. I'm not a very fashion savvy person. I'm getting there, but really I just learned who Diane Von Furstenberg is and I don't have a subscription to Vogue. Sometimes my ignorance catches me off guard, like Friday when local blogger and fashion-cutie Skylar Mundy asked me, "What are you wearing to Bill Cunningham?"
Deer in the headlights - I froze. How had I not heard about this event, let alone this artist? My fellow fashion bloggers patiently filled me in.
Here are the details, I'm pretty excited and still don't know what I'm wearing.
Events: Bill Cunningham and a Bike Ride"BILL CUNNINGHAM NEW YORK
Opens the Crest Friday, April 22nd
Opening Night to Benefit Verge Center for the Arts

The Crest Theatre is proud to announce the exclusive engagement of Bill Cunningham New York starting on Friday, April 22 through Thursday, April 28. This is the latest film in the Verge Center for the Arts quarterly screening at the Crest.

Opening night, which benefits the Verge Center for the Arts, begins with a Trunk Show in the Crest Theatre lobby featuring local boutiques and designers including Bows and Arrows, Modaspia,Crimson & Clover, Thunderhorse, and Babyfloss, while DJ Hailey provides ambience in the main house followed by the premiere screening of BILL CUNNINGHAM NEW YORK and a post screening panel discussion with fashion bloggers Bella Q (Sac Street Style), Lorena Beightler (Sac Cycle Chic) and Kari Shipman (Juniper James).
About the film-
"'We all get dressed for Bill,” says Vogue editrix Anna Wintour. The “Bill” in question is 80+ New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham. For decades, this Schwinn-riding cultural anthropologist has been obsessively and inventively chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirées for the Times Style section in his columns “On the Street” and “Evening Hours.” Documenting uptown fixtures (Wintour, Tom Wolfe, Brooke Astor, David Rockefeller—who all appear in the film out of their love for Bill), downtown eccentrics and everyone in between, Cunningham’s enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place and individual flair. In turn, Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming
grace."
The Trunk Show begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Crest Theatre lobby. The film begins at 8:00 p.m. in the Crest’s main theatre followed immediately by the panel discussion. Tickets are $15 general, $12 for seniors and students. Advance tickets go on sale Friday April 1 at the Crest Theatre Box Office, Phono Select and tickets.com.
