Emeli Sande has been impressing this week by helping out Leona Lewis with her brand new and bloody brilliant track, Trouble, and now by featuring, as a thank you I presume, on producer Naughty Boy's new track, Wonder.
Although I'm not completely sure which tracks Naughty Boy produced on Emeli's album, Our Version Of Events, I could take an educated guess from this track that Where I Sleep was one of them. Both Wonder and Where I Sleep have similar piano riffs and a general likeness to one another - Wonder has a little bit of a beefier sound to it in the sense that there is a relatively raw and strong drumbeat strengthening its back.
Emeli's name is planted as a featuring artist which, in essence, she is, however, her performance really makes this for me because, although there are bits and pieces of autotune and correction ... She has a tone about her that makes the whole track so, so right.
The lyrics aren't particularly hard to have made, but that really doesn't matter, it's the vocal hook which simply goes "ooh, ooh" that clinches so much and then the obviously so passionate way in which Emeli delivers for Naughty Boy ... what a woman.
In my eyes, Emeli can do no wrong. She was incredible at the olympics, made Leona Lewis an incredible single and has now helped out Naughty Boy on what should be an absolute hit.
Paul.
