It has been quite a while I posted some cookies recipe here. For me cookies are easiest kind of bakes to try at home.I am on constant search for good cookies to bake and store as quick snacks, though none of my homemade cookies lasted more than two days :). This chocolate crinkles has been in my to do list for a long time and finally I baked it last week. Chocolate crinkles are soft chewy cookies made using melted chocolate, coated with icing sugar traditionally. The source recipe contained egg, which I replaced with 1/2 cup milk. Also I reduced the amount of icing sugar.I just rolled the shaped cookies very quickly as we don't like very sweet cookies. As I have reduced the amount of sugar mentioned for rolling,my cookies did not look exactly how crinkles should look but they tasted almost like they should. They were dense, chewy, fudge like with full of chocolate flavor,a must try for all chocolate lovers

Ingredients:
3/4 cup all purpose flour/maida
115 grams semi sweet/bittersweet chocolate, grated or finely chopped
1/4 sugar
1/4 cup icing sugar (see notes)
2 tablespoons butter
1 vanilla bean scrapped
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Method:
1.Melt the grated chocolate along with butter until creamy, with no lumps. Now add sugar and whisk well until dissolved.
2.Sift all purpose flour and baking powder.Add this to the chocolate mixture and mix well.
3.Now slowly add the milk as little as required and knead to a soft dough. The dough will be very soft and sticky.
4.Refrigerate the dough for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
5.Once you are ready to bake, preheat oven at 165C.Scoop small balls from the dough and shape it with your hands.
6.Roll each ball over the icing sugar and arrange in a baking/cookie sheet.
7.Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges are slightly firm.Serve warm
Notes:
1.Though it was clearly mentioned not to over bake,I baked my first batch for 15 minutes and cookies were crispy and very dry,so do not over bake.
2.I have reduced the amount icing sugar used for rolling here, you can use 1/2 cup icing sugar if you prefer.
3.Do not add more flour thinking that dough is sticky,it is very important to refrigerate the dough for easy handling.
