Happy Earth Day!
This Earth Day we wanted to highlight some of our non-profit partners working to make a difference for the environment.
These awesome non-profit partners work tirelessly to keep our air and waterways clean. We worked closely with Clean Water Network and Breathe California to make really fun t-shirts with a great message.
We’ve recently partnered with Cloud Forest Institute, an organization working to prevent deforestation and promote environmental education. Executive Director Freed Burnstad said the greatest thing individuals can do this to help the environment this Earth Day is plant trees. She stressed the importance of growing our own food and buying locally, because the interdependence makes us all more aware of our environment and our resources.
“We all depend on the same producers if we buy locally,” Freeda said, “so we try harder.”
Freeda said when she was growing up in Northern California her parents didn’t hide the scary environmental stuff from her.
“You can just be paralyzed with fear or do something about it,” Freeda said, “That’s why I started (doing conservation); but I kept at it because it is really gratifying to have right livelihood. You meet amazing people and life is just richer than being a econobot.”
