This morning, I received an interesting e-mail from Microsoft. For people who signed up for Windows Insider Program, I am sure they also received this e-mail. But for those who didn’t participate to the Windows Insider Program, let me share to you the content of the e-mail I received. I think it’s worth sharing because it is another good news to those who use Microsoft Products, especially Microsoft Office.
These are some of the verbatim texts from the actual e-mail I received from Microsoft via Gabe Aul's account:
Hello Windows Insider,
Since we launched Windows 10 publically in July, we have released several Windows Insider Preview builds for both desktop and mobile. These builds include some great new features and improvements which we built directly in response to Windows Insider feedback. Have a look at my blog for more details on the latest PC and mobile builds.
I'm also excited to announce that Microsoft Office 2016 is now available. Here's how to check it out:
If you're already an Office 365 subscriber – automatic upgrades will be rolling out over the coming months. If you want to upgrade today, visit My Account, sign in, and select Install to update to the new Office 2016 desktop apps. During the update, you may need to close all Office apps and allow enough time for the update to complete.
If you're not already an Office 365 subscriber – you can sign up for a 30-day Office 365 trial for the full Office experience for home or business use.
So this means that Microsoft Office 2016 is another free upgrade for existing Office 365 Subscribers. I noticed that Microsoft is following the trend set by Apple for Mac OS X and iOS users. They now allow users to get the latest versions of their software for FREE. That's cool, eh?
If you’re an existing Office 365 subscriber, you can now start upgrading your existing Microsoft Office 2013 to 2016. If you are not yet a subscriber, then you can try the 30-day trial before you decide to pay for the license/product key.
Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Sign-in to your Microsoft Account.
Step 2: On your " Microsoft Office Online Page, scroll Down and Click "My Account".
Step 3: A new tab/window will open which will redirect you to your Office 365 Account.
Step 4: Click the Install Button to to proceed, this will let you download the online installer. Once you finish downloading the online installer, run it (double click) and then wait for it to finish installing Microsoft Office 2016 on your device.
The latest version of Microsoft Office 2016 as of this moment is Version 16.0.4229.1024. To check, open any of the Microsoft Office 2016 programs. On this example, I opened Microsoft Word 2016. To check the version, click File > Account and you will see the product version on the lower right side of the the screen.
