Do Communist Countries Fake Basic National Data?

Capitalist governments use stats to organize the social space based on their immediate demands.

What is the crime rate in Venezuela today?? Few people really know what is the real number.

And in Cuba??

And unemployment in Cuba??

Combine ”socialist” predisposition to falsify stats and third world vulnerabilities..

Rousseff government say unemployment is Brazil is just 6%… But sub-employment here is enormous. If ”socialists” are superior than capitalists, why they avoid honesty???

Venezuelan crime statistics are just fine. The homicide rate is the 3rd highest in the world, and the government acknowledges that fact. The crime rate figures for total crimes and single crimes are updated all the time and are available for anyone to see. Even the Opposition does not charge the Chavistas with lying about the crime rate.

The crime rate is low in Cuba. Especially violent crime is very low. Havana is the safest large city in Latin America.

The unemployment rate in Cuba has traditionally been ~3.1%, but most of that is usually frictional. Anti-Communist idiots (most Americans) typically reply to this comment with the insipid remark, “That’s because there’s nothing to steal in Cuba!” There’s always something to steal. There are plenty of things to steal in Cuba, there are plenty of people and places to rob, lots of women to rape and lots of people to kill too if that suits your fancy.

Tell, is there is more stuff to steal in a Venezuelan slum or in the capital of Haiti than there is in Cuba? There is way more to steal in Cuba than in either of those places. Very poor neighborhoods have all sorts of stuff to steal and theft is often epidemic in those places.

Anti-Communist morons (most Americans) always accuse Cuba of lying about their health figures among other things. No one has ever proven that Cuba falsified any of their stats regarding anything. In fact, Cuba’s health figures were reviewed by the UN and they were found to be completely accurate. Caloric intake went way down in the Special Period and petty crime, especially theft, went way up. Official figures reflect both of those negative trends.

Further, no one has ever proven that any Communist country ever falsified any stats ever on things like employment, health figures, housing figures, crime rates, etc. The health and education figures out of Cuba are immaculate, as were those from the USSR and China. Even North Korea’s health figures are very accurate.

I believe some Communist states may have issued some falsified data about political prisoners and political killings. North Korea may not have told us how many people died in a famine in the 1990’s. In other words, when lots of people die either from internal repression or famine, they may not give us completely accurate data. But the USSR logged every single death caused by internal repression such as executions, deaths in the gulags and deaths in the anti-kulak campaign in the Ukraine. The figures are widely considered to be completely accurate. The files were opened up in 1990 when the USSR broke up.

Communist countries are accused of lying all the time, but good hard data that they lied on their economic or health figures is sorely lacking. In fact it appears to be a false charge. I would be very interested to see data showing that other Communist countries falsified basic national data. The anti-Communists level this charge all the time, but they never proved it.
