Good morning lovelies! How did your weekend go? I did pamper myself a bit last Sunday and made a special concoction for my hair. As you know, I have naturally curly hair, so my hair is really dry and damaged and can look crunchy. To prevent this from happening, I use hot oil on my hair once a week to keep my hair smooth and moisturized. Last year, I really wanted mermaid hair so I was researching over the net what product I can use to make my hair grow longer faster. Good thing, I found natural ways to grow my hair longer without using harsh chemicals. Today, I would like to share with you my homemade hot oil recipe for not only longer but stronger hair.
First, gather all the materials we will be needing:1. Vitamin E capsules2. Castor oil3. Hair clip4. Hair coloring comb5. Plastic bag or cling wrap6. Olive oil or other oil of your choiceFirst step, get a clean container then put about half a cup of olive oil, more or less depending on hair lenth. Olive oil not only promotes hair growth but is also rich in antioxidants which fights dandruff and itchy scalp. It tames frizz and add shine to hair. It is also acts as a natural moisturizer for both the hair and scalp. Next, add castor oil. Castor oil is well known for hair growth. It stimulates blood circulation in the hair follicles which leads to longer, healthier hair. Add about one to two tablespoons of castor oil to our mixture. Because castor oil is too thick and can be very sticky, it weighs down hair, which prevents frizziness but we do not want too much castor oil because we do not want our hair to look to greasy plus it can be a hassle to remove.Next, pop two capsules of vitamin E. Most hair products contain vitamin E which also makes the hair smoother and guess what, promotes hair growth. Vitamin E also prevents split ends and premature graying. When added to conditioner or other oils, vitamin E makes our hair stronger and shinier. Now, mix all three ingredients and we are ready for application. I first use a hair coloring comb for applying the mixture to my scalp. I start by parting my hair at the middle then working my way to the sides. I dip the brush to the concoction then apply it directly to the scalp then going down from the roots to the ends of my hair.Once your hair is completely saturated, start massaging your scalp using your fingers. I do this for about five minutes using the tips of my fingers applying gentle but firm pressure, not scratching, to my scalp. After doing that, my hair tips need extra attention. Because the tips of hair are the oldest and farthest from our scalp, the natural oils from our scalp usually cannot reach our ends so we need extra amount of care for our tips. I usually just dip my tips on the container then spread the excess upwards.Once done massaging and soaking our tips in oil, start detangling your hair then put your hair up in a bun as pictured below.Next, get a plastic bag. You can use a clean grocery bag and tie the ends or even cling film or wrap. I had clear plastic bag available so that is what I used. You can also use a plastic shower cap or anything that would cover your entire head. Our goal is to not let air inside our hair and scalp, so secure the plastic with a hair clip like so. Let the oil sit on our hair for an our or longer. You will notice that because your hair is sealed in plastic, the oil will heat up. You will start seeing "sweat" on your plastic suggesting that the oils are working its magic. I like doing this method rather than heating up the oils in the microwave before application, but you can totally do that it you want, just make sure that the oil is not scalding hot or else you will burn your scalp. Now, the only thing you need to do is get in the shower, wash and condition your hair as you normally would and style. You may not notice immediate effects but I guarantee you, if you do this once a week consistently, you will see that your hair is softer, shinier, and less frizzy :)Hope this beauty tip helps :)
Until next time!
