According to a Comic-Con press release that Warner Bros. just put out this evening, the Wonder Woman screenplay was written by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, from a story by Zack Snyder and Allan Heinberg. We also got the first plot synopsis!
“Wonder Woman” hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny. This will be Allan Heinberg’s first movie. Until now he’s worked exclusively on television, writing episodes for shows like Sex and the City, The O.C., and Grey’s Anatomy. But he also has some comic book experience, and helped relaunch “Wonder Woman” after the “Infinite Crisis” mini-series. Of course you all know DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns. Having him co-write the script is nothing but great news!
