Dark Chocolate Pie with a Holiday Twist

I think everyone is aware that I participate in Weekend Potluck each Friday morning but I also participate in another really great Linky Party called Thursday’s Treasures hosted by Joan at Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate and Debi at Recipes for my Boys. I follow them both in many different ways and before I get to the pie, I want to recommend a tab on Joan’s blog called “For Bloggers”. This tab has icons you can click and learn VERY IMPORTANT information about Twitter etiquette, appropriate pinning on Pinterest and other photo sharing sites, as well as many other tutorials on how to be a better blogger. If you are a blogger, tweeter, or a pinner, I encourage you to go read and learn. Since I have dark chocolate left over, I’m going to make Joan’s recipe for Dark Chocolate Tiger Cookies. But, back to Recipes for my Boys; recently Debi posted a recipe for Dark, Dark Chocolate Pie and it looked incredible! You will find the entire recipe and pictures on her blog. Please go visit her because she has some great stuff on her blog too.

My husband loves dark chocolate and so do I. In fact, if he could find a bagful of Milky Way Midnight Dark candy bar in the fun size, he would be in heaven! When I saw the pie recipe, I knew I had to make it for us very soon and thought I would jazz it up a little bit. I ended up making it in a different way and I have recorded below but I will leave you to go to Debi’s site for the exact ingredient measurements.

Here is what you will need:

Plus a pie crust that you will need to dock and bake.

I made mine in a double boiler instead of a saucepan because we all know I have a short attention span and was fairly sure I would scorch the filling if I didn’t!

This is what it should look like when it’s completed.

I added Cool Whip and crushed candy canes to my pie in order for it to be more Christmas – y.

This pie only took about 30 minutes to make and a few hours to sit in the fridge – won’t that make a great dessert for a holiday potluck?
