Crockpot Black Eyed Peas for Luck

If there was ever a year that we need a whole lot of luck, it's 2021. Here is a New Year's Day meal that's sure to bring at least a little luck. Let's hope it's good luck!

As the southern saying for lucky New Year's food goes: "peas for pennies, greens for dollars, and cornbread for gold."

Crockpot Black Eyed Peas for Luck
  • 1lb Dried Black Eyed Peas
  • 1Ham bone or ham hock
  • 1 package of cubed ham.
  • 32oz Beef Broth
  • Place Dried Peas the crockpot with the ham bone, ham, and beef broth.
  • Cook them on high for 6-8 hours.

At our house, we prefer cabbage for our greens and we make great cornbread!

**A note from Mother Kalamity: Leave a few black-eyed peas in your bowl, when you are done. It's for next year's luck.
