Dare 2b Restrain Trousers
After a few days the trousers arrived in the post and I was keen to test them out - outdoor trousers for me have to be comfortable, look good, not too baggy or too tight and allow a wide range of leg movements - both walking during fieldwork for my degree out in Northumberland and a few sessions at the climbing wall would give me a good impression; here's what I thought.
I immediately found the trousers very comfortable on the legs and around the waist (perhaps a little higher than I'd personally like), they fit like a walking trousers but they allowed a good enough range of motion needed when climbing. The comfort is also complimented by the subtle look of the trousers - no patches and no zip below the knee; perfect for what I want really - they're also just about the right warmth for a standard day in the hills.
My only problem with them, for climbing, was that the popper around the waist occasionally came undone when I was wearing a harness or my legs lifted too high - probably best to stick to wearing these trousers out in the hills rather than on the crag, not to say that they are in any way bad but I believe they're more suited to walking; the high waist would suggest this too.
Overall I was impressed with the Dare 2b trousers; they're comfortable, look good and are practical - I'd recommend these to anyone looking for a well priced walking trouser but if you're looking for something to climb in freely and regularly I'd try out something made for purpose; Lowe Alpine do some good climbing trousers for example.
