Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of going to see Danielle and Jodie Snyder, the sister dynamic duo behind jewelry brand DANNIJO, speak at SCADstyle alongside moderator Christene Barberich, editor-in-chief at Refinery29. I have been a long time fan of DANNIJO for quite some time. Back in 2011 I ordered my first bib necklace from Bergdorf’s, and was instantly addicted. In April 2012, I became even more obsessed with the brand when they did their second Mr. Dannijo collaboration with Man Repeller. I mean come on, have you seen how awesome the campaign was? The sister duo seem like the coolest people you will ever meet (I feel lame saying that?), but, it’s true. I love how their unique style and personal edge perpetuate through the brand.
The two talked about branding and building a brand – and I think they are the perfect pair to speak about this in the fashion industry. What really hit home to me was their talks about building a following, participating in collaborations, etc. I understood what they were saying because I am a part of their following and have been for a while – their instagram account is one of my favorites. If you aren’t following them, check them out here. The sisters talked about posting social media content that is relative to their brand and to their audience – which ultimately makes them so relatable (to me) compared to other brands. In my opinion, DANNIJO makes me feel like I am following a friend and not an advertiser, which I think is key and why they have such a great brand.
