Daddy Time

By Mummyoftwo @RaspberryGiggle

With Big Mr A not getting back from work until late most nights, Little Mr A doesn't get very much time to spend with his Daddy. So, when they do get to spend time together, just the two of them, it is even more special. When they do spend time together, they will always end up doing one of two things - computer games or LEGO.

Little Mr A received a big box of Make and Rebuild LEGO to have some quality time with his Daddy. The LEGO is great! There are lots of different shaped, coloured and sized blocks to build with and there are lots of pictures for inspiration on the outside of the box.

Little Mr A has been having great fun building some of the suggested items together with creating his own models. Grandad was even roped into helping on a recent visit!

This LEGO set would make a great starter set for anyone wanting to introduce their little ones to LEGO as there is so much that can be built from houses to cars, people to animals - their imaginations can run riot!

My only slight criticism of the set is that it does become quite difficult to find the pieces you need once you have emptied all of the bags into the storage box and some little compartments would help to 'sort' the pieces of LEGO a bit.

Since becoming a Stay at Home Mum it is clear that Little Mr A sees my role as the one who looks after him and Little Miss A and Daddy is the one to go to for fun! When I pick him up from school, he always asks if he can do 'so and so' with Daddy when he gets home! But what do the children of 2013 really think of their Dads? LEGO have recently carried out some research into just that and have found out some really interesting statistics with almost 90% of those questioned saying their Dad was their hero.

When asked what makes them most proud of their Dad a quarter said it's how he looks after the family and a fifth that he works really hard to give their family a good life.

Children were also polled on what they think their Dad is best at with almost 60% saying driving the car, more than half mending and fixing things around the house and just under half helping with school work.

However, the one thing that does bug kids about their Dads is the age-old embarrassing-Dad routine, which the survey shows was also a big bugbear for today's fathers when they were kids. The study shows that 65% of today's kids are embarrassed by their Dads' antics, with the exact same number of Dads saying their own fathers regularly showed them up when they were children!

Children of today rank their Dads' bad jokes, bad dancing, public displays of affection by kissing and cuddling them in front of friends and their bad clothes as the biggest Dad-embarrassments, which is almost identical to the list dads of today gave about their old men. However, 58% of the Dads surveyed by LEGO said that they embarrass their children on purpose!

Playing football, playing with LEGO and playing board games rated as the childrens' favourite things to play with their Dads, which according to the poll were the favourites of Dads when they were children.

Do your children get much one on one time with their Dads and, if so, what do they love doing together?
