Little Miss A was recently sent a fab new toy from online toyshop, Butterflies and Dragons.
Cubanimo, made by Djeco, is a set of stacking cubes together with three animals. The set includes 14 stacking cubes each brightly coloured with images and pictures.
9 of the blocks are cubes, 2 are roof shaped and 3 are ‘ladders’ (rectangular blocks you can use to place between the cubes as ladders/runways).
You also receive three plastic animal characters including a cow, a cat and a dog. The animals also feature on the design of some of the stacking cubes.
The toy is great for helping young children recognize animals and matching skills as well as helping with motor skills and concentration when stacking the blocks.
As well as using the blocks as stacking cubes, you can also use them for imaginative play as houses for the animals and build up walkways for them. The play possibilities are endless!
It is also a really good toy for using alongside other toys. It is great to use with Little Miss A’s Happyland people as they can go in and out of the ‘houses’ too and the animals can be played with either on their own or alongside other toys.
Little Miss A has been having a great time playing with the Cubanimo and I can see that it will be a favorite for a long time to come.
The recommended age range is 12 months to 4 years which I think is about right. Little Mr A has also enjoyed playing with them too!
The toy is excellent quality. The cubes are made of really strong, thick cardboard and will withstand a lot of play. The animals are a really nice, soft, plastic that feel nice to hold but are easy to clean which is always important when sticky little fingers are involved!
I like that there is not too much to store when they are not being played with. Most of the blocks fit back inside each other with just a couple being the same size so need to be stored separately. I think this is a big consideration when buying a new toy – you don’t want lots of different bits to store as pieces end up getting lost (well they do in our house anyway!).
We would highly recommend this toy to anyone looking for a versatile toy for toddlers and young children.
