Crate Paper Design Team : Oh Happy Day

By Jcchris
Hello again! So excited to share with you this week's assignment. When I got to know that I'm assigned to create a project that is out of my comfort zone, it really got me thinking. I have to create something that is different from my usual scrapping style. Most of my projects are created with white cardstock, use gesso to subtle the background paper and I enjoy using one or the most 2 photos on my project. After thinking for a while, I decided to create a mixed media background by using coloured mists and also challenged myself to create with more than 2 photos.
Firstly, I decided to go with patterned paper as my background. After applying gesso, I misted 5 colours to create unicorn-inspired colours. I got the inspiration from my youngest daughter's unicorn birthday party. Next, I proceeded with applying gesso onto the bubble wrap and stamped all around. And also using a recycled plastic card to create lines with gesso. I really loved all the effect. It is colourful but yet subtle. Crate Paper Design Team : Oh Happy Day
Once that is all dried, I proceeded with arranging the photos. I printed one family photo and also 6 photos of the party details. Then I went on to pick out all the embellishments that matched with the photos. I really love all the whimsical illustrations in the Carousel collection. Just perfect for my project!

Here is the completed layout...
Crate Paper Design Team : Oh Happy DayI always love to layer the embellishments onto each other but this time round I decided to keep them minimal with the layering so that I could showcase the photos and also that colourful background.
Crate Paper Design Team : Oh Happy DayUsing different kind of stickers will sure create interesting textures and dimensions onto the layout.

Breaking out from my usual habit sure gives me a different perspective on how I should sometimes create!
