One of my favorite go-to tool that is always nearby is my faithful precision scissors. I love being able to use Crate Paper patterned papers in fun and unusual ways and fussy-cutting is one way to do just that. Fussy-cutting is pretty therapeutic to me. I've also used fun elements from the new Gather collection, specifically focused on the texture & dimension of the patterned papers and ephemera. 
I love layering and by doing so, it gives a lot of depth to my design and also a flow of all the elements together. I sure love that the photo in the middle steals the show among all the beautiful floral around it. Sure gives a very warm + cosy feel to my layout. 
Adding other fussy-cutting elements like the bird among the floral will create a 'fuller' design to your layout. 
Foam dots are one of my favorite supplies. By adhering behind your fussy-cut elements, it instantly creates a dimension.
