Corn-peas pulao is a simple,fragrant,healthy pulao/one pot meal that is apt for lunchbox/dinner.It is packed with multitude of flavors and takes less time to prepare.Sweet corn kernels and fresh green peas are the star players here,sweet corn renders brilliant aroma with a slight sweet taste which is perfectly complimented by onion-ginger paste.The absolutely delicious earthy flavor and texture of this pulao comes from boiled peas,ah how much I love this earthy flavor.Such recipes are real time savers and will leave your guests/family raving about the taste and flavor but only you will know making such dish is a child's play,I am not exaggerating here,just go through the recipe and try it for yourself,you will know what I mean :)

Corn peas pulao recipe:
Star ingredients: Sweet corn,fresh green peas
Time: 30 minutes
Serves:3

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup basmati rice,soaked for 30 minutes and drained
1/2 cup sweet corn kernels
1/2 cup fresh green peas
1 teaspoon pav bhaji masala/garam masala
1 tomato,finely chopped
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
Salt
Oil
Cilantro leaves for garnish
Grind to a coarse paste:
1 large onion,roughly chopped
2" inch peeled ginger
3 green chillies
1 teaspoon coriander seeds/powder
Method:
1.Soak basmati rice in water for 30 minutes.Drain and cook with just enough water,so that the cooked grains are fluffy and separate.
2.While the rice is cooking,grind the ingredients mentioned in "grind to a coarse paste" with very little water.Boil corn kernels and peas for 5-7 minutes.
3. Heat a pressure pan/cooker/heavy bottomed vessel and add 3-4 tablespoons oil.Once hot add mustard and cumin seeds.
4.Add the ground masala and saute till the raw smell goes off and oil starts to separate.Now add the chopped tomato and saute till cooked.
5.Add corn kernels and peas,mix well.Add pav bhaji/garam masala powder,salt and saute well for 8-10 minutes.
6.Add the cooked rice and mix very gently.
7.Remove from flame,garnish with cilantro leaves and serve hot.
Notes:
1.You can either garam masala or pav bhaji masala
2.Do not add any other veggies in this as the flavor will be over powered
3.You can also garnish with fried cashews if preferred
