A psychologist paralyzed by fear.   A mother propelled by love.   A stalker bent on destruction.   Psychology professor Dr. Denilyn Rossi contends that the past is either a shadow that haunts us or a force that propels us. The choice is ours, she tells her students. What she doesn’t tell them is that her own past is a shadow she can’t seem to shake. Fear has immobilized her and is taking a costly toll.

Adelia Sanchez, however, has embraced Dr. Rossi’s teaching. She is ready to confront fear and render it powerless—using the trauma of her past to propel her to entrap the man who stalked and brutally attacked her.

As Denilyn’s past and Adelia’s present converge at the Kaweah River, a dangerous man bent on destruction threatens them both. Will he uncover the secret Deni and Adelia have fought so hard to protect?

I’m not even sure how I got caught up in today’s book – Convergence by Ginny L. Yttrup. I had never heard of the author, and when I read the back cover of the book again this morning, I swear I don’t remember requesting it from NetGalley but obviously I did…… musta been a thing that day.

Convergence is the story of Dr. Denilyn (“Deni”) Rossi,  a psychologist dealing with crippling fear, flashbacks and panic attacks years after being attacked by a stalker.  She feels strange vibes that someone is once again watching her…following her.  She was either being stalked again or her PTSD was making her think she was.

The story moves from past to present and back frequently and between the lies of three women.  There was lots of action along with a twist or two for readers to enjoy.  The story showed how fear really can keep someone prisoner, but that there can be hope to break the cycle of fear.  I loved that this was a clean mystery/suspense thriller and that there are Christian references throughout the story.

I loved all the references to faith, facing your fear through the help of God and trusting in God to get you through tough situations. Convergence is a solid suspense book with a lot to like about it.

Convergence by Ginny L. Yttrup ABOUT THE AUTHOR (By the Author):  First, because I know you’re wondering, it’s pronounced “Why-trup.” (The question I’m asked most often.)

My debut novel, Words, released in 2011 and set me on the path of writing women’s fiction woven around issues many women face, myself included. While Words was loosely based on my childhood, not all my novels are inspired by my own life story. Although, I have written about other issues I’ve struggled with. Regardless of the issue I’m addressing, I work to make my characters emotionally layered, conflicted, yet infused with hope, and sometimes humor. Just like us.

My next book, Convergence, set to release in 2019, marks a transition from the women’s fiction genre to the suspense genre. But for those of you who’ve enjoyed my women’s fiction titles, not to worry, Convergence will include the elements of hope and healing my novels are known for, along with a setting that reflects the grandeur of creation.

When I’m not writing, I speakcoach writers, critique manuscripts, and make vintage-style jewelry for my Etsy shop, Storied Jewelry.

I love spending time with my two adult sons, Justin and Jared, my daughter-in-law, Stephanie, or with the small circle of dear friends who enrich my life in so many ways. If I can spend time outdoors or gathered around a food-laden table with those I love, it’s even better.

And I can’t forget to mention my constant companion, the “man in my life,” Sir Henry Higgins. The way to my heart? Four paws and fur.  🙂
