Coldplay Leave Us A Little Peckish ...

A name like Coldplay is not one to be thrown around lightly nowadays. Their name is so massive that their international success has somewhat been unprecedented by anyone you could consider remotely similar ... so, when they announce that they'll be making something for the new Hunger Games movie, Catching Fire, you'd expect it to be spectacular.
Coldplay leave Us A Little Peckish ...Unfortunately, it seems, their new single, Atlas, which will be featuring in the movie, has left us a little hungry for more (don't even excuse the pun). It's a shame really because this is a good track, but it's nothing mind-blowing and, considering we've not heard from Coldplay in some time now, you may have wanted something more of a spectacle than what they deliver.
The way it's played is very good ... or so you suspect. It begins quite softly, with Chris Martin's staggeringly distinctive vocal coming out quite proudly, though, you may notice that he really doesn't have to try hard. This is all fine and well, but when we know he has a very powerful vocal, you may expect it to come out to play nearer the end, or at least in the chorus of the song and, unfortunately for everyone involved, it just never seems to do so.
We feel that this will be a song which is beautifully placed within the film. We envisage that this will take place throughout a scene of battle, where every picture has been slowed down for emphasis. The lyrics are very fitting in this respect and we can't wait to see the film in order to gauge their thoughts on this track and see where it fits.
We'd hope this isn't it from Coldplay and that they start to bring out some new masterpieces now, following the major success of Mylo Xyloto ... we know it's probably not cool anymore, but we can't help but love a bit of Coldplay, though, maybe more so the more intensely melodic tracks rather than this.
Paul.
