Good day guys! I hope you are all doing well. I'm really into decorating these past few days and I made another Christmas DIY just for you. I was inspired by the unconventional use of Christmas wreaths by none other than Martha Stewart, so I decided to make my own version of a Christmas wreath chandelier. If you have been following me for some time, you will know that I am obsessed with chandeliers I even made a Christmas light chandelier last year. Click here if you would like to see the tutorial I made. This time, I leveled up my chandelier by decorating it with Christmas ornaments and ribbons and some Christmas garland to make it look more festive. If you would like to see how I made it, continue scroll down :) I hope you enjoy today's DIY!
Okay, first thing's first. We need to gather our materials. For this project, you will need the following:
1. Christmas balls
2. Garland
3. A wooden hoop
4. Glue gun + glue stick
5. Fishing line
6. Ribbon
7. Flat beads
Oh, I forgot, you also need thick cords to hang the chandelier :)First step, get yourself three wooden hoops of different sizes, small, medium, and large. I bought mine from our local market at the native arts and crafts section. Now, get your garland and just wrap it around each hoop until all are totally covered. I got a wired garland to it is easier to manipulate, but if you cannot find any, just glue it to the hoop every two to three turns to secure it.Next, it is time to decorate. Okay, this is the fun part. You can do anything you want at this point. For my chandelier, I used Christmas balls, ribbons, and flat beads. You can use string beads and different Christmas ornaments of your choice. For the Christmas balls, I removed the top part and then attached it directly to the garland by gluing it down. Just press the ball until the glue dries. I then cut pieces of ribbon then attached it to garland as well. I also scattered some flat beads around the garland.Next thing we need to do is to attach the cords. Cut four pieces of cord for each ring, for a total of 12 (3 hoops x 4 strings), about 9-12 inches in length. Now attach the four cords to the four quadrants of the ring. On a clock face, you will attach one at 12 o'clock, one at 3 o'clock, one at 6 o'clock, and finally, one at 9 o'clock. Do this for all three rings.Next, bundle the four cords together at the center of the ring by tying a knot or if you can see in the pic below, I secured it with a zip tie. Do this for all three hoops. Now, get a long string. This would be the "backbone" of our chandelier. Assemble the three hoops from small, medium, to large or vice versa. The length of your long string should be about 24-30 inches. Attach the gathered four pieces of strings to the long string. Leave adequate spacing for each "level" of your chandelier. Now, it's time to add the lights! Just wrap it loosely around the garland about 2 to 3 inches apart. We are now done! Easy peasy, right? Now, all you have to do is hang it, light it up, and admire your work. This is how mine turned out. I hang it outside our front window.Did you like today's DIY?
