It all began with one chair - this one. I saw it on a blog a few weeks ago & just fell in love with it....and then I began seeing it seemingly everywhere, on blogs & on Pinterest.
It's such a simple piece but, for some reason, when I saw it, it made me see how sometimes you need just one item in a room that you really love....be it a large statement piece or just something that's beautifully designed & able to sit by itself.
When I saw this white Charles Eames inspired chair in various rooms, I knew that it was the piece that I wanted.
As I've mentioned before, I've been leaning more & more towards white & towards a minimalist look & works perfectly for the space I have in mind.
There does seem to be a trend at the moment towards Scandinavian minimalism, particularly around Christmas time....clean, uncluttered, hand-crafted, red & white & possibly metal. Add painted white wooden floors & plenty of wood. It's a cosy & cheerful look, lots of white which seems to allow the furniture, artwork & other personal items to speak for themselves.
I think it's a look that encourages a feeling of freedom, of spaciousness & ease....something which appeals to me increasingly & which I have grown to love.
Over the past year or so I have decluttered & simplified & really honed what I want in my home & from my surroundings.
My home can be quite dark so I am trying to bring in as much light as possible with paint & with furnishings....the light look of "scandi chic" works perfectly.
I found the exact chair that I wanted here at Voga, an online store which specialises in high quality classic & iconic designs at really affordable prices.
The Charles Eames style DAW chair that I have ordered is currently on sale for a third the price of the original, for example.
Our floors are finally being sanded & varnished next week - hurrah - and this will really enable the room to come together, I cannot wait.
