Chris, The Miss ...

If you'll remember back to last year's X Factor and the whole Christopher Maloney hate campaign, then you'll understand our reasoning for writing about his debut single, My Heart Belongs To You. We genuinely felt sorry for the man. Don't get us wrong, we thought he had a very cabaret kind of voice, but he wasn't a horrible person. However, despite this, there is absolutely no denying that his new single is a bit of a shambles and doesn't help but fuel the campaign of yesteryear.
It's all but too easy to put the word "obvious" next to this single. There was absolutely no way that, upon leaving the show, Christopher would think to update his character or, innovate the industry by using his antique vocal to a new kind of sound. No. He thought he'd chuck together a group of blatant love ballads, call it an album, and churn it to whichever mom will want it as a Christmas present.
The way in which he sings here will bring back memories of his time on the X Factor. In one sense, this could be seen as a good thing because it means that the producers haven't had to do much to his vocal because of the ability that he possesses ... but in another sense, if you didn't like his voice in the first place then, like us, you're going to think this is a pretty bad single.
The bursting voice, the 'sensational' guitars and violins make for something which can only be considered as a bit too much and means that this comes as a complete miss. Whilst we are absolutely sure that the album cover will be a black and white picture of the man himself, and that mums across the UK are sure to go a little bit mad for him for the next 5 minutes ... we do wish that someone would put use to a vocal ability that someone like this possesses, and stop churning out the same old crap from an X Factor has-been year on year.
If you thought our rant was over, we've managed to find something else about it all too. The video. We soon realised that, although as a person he didn't deserve all the hatred he received last year, for his performances, they should have been welcomed. In the video, like always, you will see a montage of different places where Christopher is capable of walking, but, it's his mannerisms throughout that meant that, to even write this review, we simply had to stop watching what he was doing.
This, in its entirety, deserves to be a flop and, the moment that ex-X Factor over-25 contestants stop pushing the same old love ballads, is the same moment that their category might be considered more than a joke on the show and when back to reality.
