Chocolate Making Session with Moms and Little Chefs at JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity with Ritu Beri
By Maneesh Srivastva @urbanescapadesFashion met food on 29th july at the Delhi Baking Company, JW Mariott New Delhi Aerocity. A Chocolate making session hosted by the New-Delhi based International fashion Designer Ritu Beri with “Moms and Little Chefs” was one chirpy evening. Chirpy as we mention, as kids looked ever so excited and full of energy to don the chef’s hat and apron and work their way towards the kitchen tables neatly organised inside the Delhi Baking Company.
Ritu Beri looking ravishing in a long printed gown, was mingling around with all the crème-de-la-crème Mom’s of the Delhi society while Girish Krishnan, The Executive chef and the other chefs who were helping the kids at each table, kept the kids interest alive in baking.
Cute little kids who formed groups of 3 or 4 for each table got to bake a nice Chocolate cake (Chocolate Decadence) and toss up their favorite Knickerbocker Glory Sundae. Little Master chefs knew all about cooking and baking and enjoyed taking home goodies bags from The Delhi Baking Company. Moms were as excited and thrilled to see their kids behind the kitchen counters and photographs made their ways into mobile phones and digital cameras throughout the session. Girish Krishnan as always, was present with a smiling soul, and impressed the kids with his sense of humor. Also present were Antony Page, General Manager, JW Mariott New Delhi Aerocity who happily clicked some pictures for the paparazzi along with Ritu Beri.
The Delhi Baking Company is an in house bakery of JW Mariott. The setting is so inviting that you would want to sit there for long hours along with a book from the shelf and some of their own brewed coffee. With a wide range of gourmet products, they also offer some exclusive focaccia and in-house ice cream flavours. So, you want to have an ice-cream or a sundae or some baked cookies or fresh pastries, or just a cup o coffee or tea, this is the place! And what’s more? They have Happy Hours too! And every Tuesday they host a baking session table for guests, just so if you are interested in learning “All about baking’.
We got a chance to have a brief-chat with the Executive Pastry Chef Narendra Lendave. Born and brought up and passed out from IHM Mumbai, Chef Narendra has worked as Pastry Chef at Grand Hyatt Doha and as Executive Pastry Chef at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. Having also worked at The Leela Resorts, Mumbai and Westin Hotels, Hyderabad, he says baking is all about passion. If one has the passion, the creativity in this field is endless. Right temperature and concentration are the key ingredients to perfect baking. Someone who loves to add contemporary flavours to the traditional methods, Chef Narendra wants to start an Institute of his own someday in the future and that’s surely a great news for the budding bakers J
The event ended with some nice snacks, treats and coffee and everyone left with sinful stomachs!
