I absolutely love cookies. That's such an overused statement because most everyone loves some type of cookie. The only problem is that my love for cookies is not a normal food love that normal people experience. It's not the kind of love where you eat one cookie, think about how good it was, and then never feel the need to eat the whole batch. Oh no. I only wish it were that kind of love. My love for cookies comes in stacks. There is no such thing as just one cookie for me.
So after sharing my guilty secret and my lack of control with you, I'm warning you. You may want to exit this page now. Seriously. Otherwise you may become an ashamed cookie hoarder like me.
If you're still here, I'm assuming you've taken the plunge. There's no turning back. You've seen the pictures of dough. You drank the kool-laid.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
- 3/4 Cup of Brown Sugar
- 3/4 Cup of White Sugar
- 1 Cup (2 Sticks) of Butter
- 2 1/4 Cup of Flour
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Tsp of Salt
- 1 Tsp of Baking Soda
- 1 Tsp of Vanilla
- All the Chocolate Chips You Want
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Beat butter, eggs, and sugars.
- Add the eggs one at a time.
- Add the vanilla.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking soda.
- Add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients and beat.
- Add chocolate chips.
- Spoon cookies onto an ungreased cookie sheet about 3 inches apart. The dough balls should be about the size of a ping pong ball.
- Bake for 5 to 8 minutes
And of course. One last step. Go grab a really big spoon. We all know that you're going to eat the dough. Now there's no shame in it since this recipe instructs you to eat dough. Consider yourself a warrior who risks their life for cookie dough even with salmonella warnings. You're brave.
And maybe, just maybe if there's any dough left, you'll only have to wait 5-8 minutes to have a salmonella free cookie melting in your mouth. Don't blame me if you eat 2 or 20. It happens to even the best of us. That's just how it goes. Happy Saturday!
One more thing before you go running to the kitchen to make these cookies. Here's a little weekend challenge for everyone. I think homemade cookies could fit the bill nicely, hint hint!
