Until very recently I had been a complete Chanel virgin when it came to make up. I don't know why or how I had managed to resist the lure of the luxurious packaging for so long, but I had. However, now I realize why - once you pop you just can't stop.
Chanel LE VERNIS Nail Colour 13ml - 'Orage'
This is what started the whole love affair and got me hooked. I was after the perfect greyish/navy shade for autumn/winter and whilst perusing the display this one jumped out at me. As part of their new Fall 2014 collection I knew immediately that I had to have it. There are two other colours in the range - 'Secret' (a beige-y nude) and 'Atmosphere' (a pink-ish iridescent shade) - the latter of which I may have to pick up as well now as I believe it is limited edition. I've heard hit and miss reviews regarding the Chanel polishes themselves, with a lot of people saying they chip badly after just a short amount of wear, but I cant say that I've encountered any real issues so far. It would be interesting to know whether there are any highstreet dupes out there for this shade though...
Chanel VITALUMIERE AQUA 30ml - '03 Beige'
I wrote a post a few months back saying how the Loreal True Match foundation (and for more fancy occasions - the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk) had stolen my heart and that perhaps I had found my perfect pairing. Well move over because here comes my one and only! A little dubious over whether or not to purchase this initially due to my oily skin tendencies, I decided to bite the bullet and I'm so glad I did. The lady on the counter actually matched me as being their third lightest shade which surprised me as I normally get paired with every brand's palest offering. This suits me perfectly though. It applies like a dream (a little goes a very long way), it is long wearing and best of all, when combined with my trusty Body Shop primer, it manages to keep the oil at bay all day! It's a miracle!
Chanel LES BEIGES 12g - 'No. 10'
What with the staying power of the foundation, I rarely find that I need to power throughout the day now. It is nice to touch up on occasion though and for this I use the LES BEIGES healthy glow sheer powder. I have the palest shade - it's lovely and fine in texture, never cakes and best of all, has that familiar Chanel fragrance that makes you want to inhale each time you prize open the compact.
Chanel ROUGE ALLURE VELVET - '37 L'Exuberante'
And finally, the piece de resistance. I find it really hard to unearth pink toned lipsticks that suit me. I enjoy a good bold lip, but with my pale complexion often find that the baby pinks and neons that look so nice on some people just don't do me any favours. As soon as I swatched this gorgeous blue toned shade though, it was love at first sight. It sits firmly at the top of my favourites pile now, not least because of the satisfaction I get each time I push down on the beautiful golden lid and the product pops out! It also applies beautifully, is matte enough to avoid being glossy but at the same time manages to keep your lips well moisturised and never cakes - perfection. I need more of these in my life pronto.
Hope you enjoyed my little focus in on Chanel as a brand. I would love to know if there are any other products I should be stocking up on? Do feel free to leave any recommendations!Chanel Haul & Review
