Centara Watergate Pavilion Bangkok was the third among the Centara hotels I’ve stayed at in the Thai capital—proving how much I love the brand. But this particular hotel, as I observed, caters more to my demographic, the young urbanite exploring the City of Angels. Read more…
Centara Watergate Pavilion Hotel Bangkok is located in an area I’m all too familiar with. It’s ideally situated along Ratchaprarop Road, five minutes away by foot from the Airport Rail Link station that serves Suvarnabhumi Airport. The expressway that links Bangkok’s two international airports is nearby as well, making both accessible in less than 40 minutes by taxi.
Walking around the area is a delight, with the multitude of food stalls and neighborhood shops populating the area. But for even more serious shopping, the hotel’s right behind Watergate Pavilion, a community mall, and a few minutes away by foot from Bangkok’s biggest shopping haunts, including Platinum Fashion Mall, Palladium World Shopping Mall, Pantip IT Plaza, the Ratchaprasong Shopping District, and of course, the famous CentralWorld.
From the moment I walked into the hotel’s lobby, I immediately sensed its contrast from its two Centara Grand sisters. Its architecture and interiors, as opposed to grand and opulent, are bright, modern, and refreshing. The front staff, young and friendly, was efficient in handling my stay arrangements and was able to hand me my keys in a jiffy.
I was afforded a room up in the higher floors of the hotel, affording a beautiful view of the vibrant district, and I was impressed by what I saw—whitewashed walls, wooden panels, modern wall art, chic furnishings, and an overall minimalist appeal. It was stylish, and it seemed to have been taken off from pages of a magazine.
The spacious room had a suite of feature and amenities expected of a respectable hotel, including a comfortable queen bed, a small couch with a side table and desk, an LCD TV, a minibar with coffee and tea making facility, and ample closet space and surfaces to put luggage and shopping bags on. The equally chic bathroom came with a set of towels and amenities.
Breakfasts are served at Café 9, which offers a bountiful array of Western, Asian, and Thai selections. Apart from the good food, the view of the garden and wading pool is lovely.
Apart from Café 9, the hotel boasts of Chili Hip, a rooftop restaurant along side WALK bar, and Infuze, an all-day lobby bar that serves drinks to the lounge beds by the wading pool. The hotel likewise has a meeting facilities, fitness room, and Cense by Spa Cenvaree.
In all, I found a favorite in Centara Watergate Pavilion Hotel Bangkok, precisely because it’s a hip hotel geared towards young travelers like myself. Its rooms and facilities are stylish; its service friendly; and its facilities are wonderful. It’s a also great pick among midrange hotels in Bangkok.
