THE RESTAURANT

The Suite Room by Casa Verde is somewhat more refined and more elegant than its come-one-come-all sister—although by no means is it snooty and selective of its patrons. Its interiors, driven by custom-designed furnishings and pastel colors, are reminiscent of a homey suite, hence its name. And its main branch, where I went to, has six tables only for a more intimate setting.

THE MENU

The menu is mostly Western comfort food, which made Casa Verde among Cebu’s must-tries. However, the famous ribs and its messy-but-tasty rub are replaced by fancier fare like spinach and ricotta cheese ravioli in tomato cream sauce and Australian beef striploin steak. Admittedly, their menu is rather limited, but it seems the restaurant wants to execute these few items well.

OUR FAVORITES

One of their specialties, the pan-fried salmon in citrus butter sauce with mushroom risotto was surprisingly put together well. The salmon was cooked perfectly, while the mushroom risotto, though a little too sticky and dense than usual, was tasty and hearty, nonetheless.

The peach mango ice cream cake, likely conceived in deference to the well-loved Filipino fast food dessert, was rather enjoyable, for it had the right levels of creamy and sweet.

VALUE FOR MONEY

Despite its name, The Suite Room by Casa Verde doesn’t deviate much from its sister in terms of prices. Sure, I’m used to paying a couple of hundred bucks for a huge plate of ribs at Casa Verde, but here, the dishes cost only a little more—say maybe by a hundred—and are thus still reasonable. For instance, the salmon I had above is unbelievably a little more than 300 PHP only.
