Little Mr A has recently been trying out the Candy Construction set from Learning Resources.

We have had a few things from Learning Resources in the past and have always been impressed with the quality and uniqueness of the products so were really excited to try this out.

The set comes with 92 sweet themed pieces which can all be joined together to create a variety of different constructions. In the box you also receive a booklet including some instructions to make various things like a car, a candy cottage and a robot, amongst others.

Little Mr A is a big fan of following instructions (he can often be found sitting on his bed reading his LEGO instructions without building anything!) and he couldn't wait to get started on building the items from the booklet.

He quickly set to work creating the candy swing. He found all of the pieces he needed and found the instructions very simple to follow and put it together very quickly. He was very pleased with his first candy creation!

Next he attempted to make the candy cottage. This proved to be a little trickier. He found all of the pieces and started constructing, however, it kept collapsing on him. Because it is quite large we did find that it became a little wobbly and difficult to put the final pieces on. I assisted him in making sure all of the parts were pushed together properly and held it in place whilst the roof was constructed. Once put together, the cottage was much more stable.

It has been Little Mr A's go to toy after school since it arrived and he has made all of the items from the booklet quite a few times now and is needing less assistance to put together the larger sets. He has also started branching out into making his own creations now too!

All of the pieces are strong and durable and will stand up to a lot of play.

The set is aimed at children aged 4-8 which I think is about right. It is a great set for young children getting into construction toys and older children will love making their own creations.

Because of the candy theme I think it really sets this apart from other construction toys you can buy in the shops.

There are so many pieces in the kit the choice of what to make is endless!

I can see this being a favourite toy for a long time to come.
